Indigenous Wellness Counsellor/Facilitator

Robert Hong is a counsellor and facilitator at Slaxin Lelum Medicine House with a diverse cultural background, including Assiniboine, Chinese, and French Métis heritage. He moved to Vancouver in 1988 to begin his recovery journey, which has profoundly shaped both his personal and professional path.

Robert is deeply engaged in his culture, facilitating sweat lodge ceremonies, drumming groups, and incorporating Mayan Healing Practices into his work. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Emily Carr University and is a trained Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.

Robert’s passion lies in facilitating groups and teaching about the connection between trauma and the body. His sessions focus on releasing trauma from the body, using both somatic and existential approaches to healing, offering clients a holistic path to recovery and well-being.
